Reflection: I really feel that this was a good first assignment. Along with all of its challenges, I learned a lot from it. I really appreciate how I had to redo the formative exercises repeatedly until they were just right. Doing this could easily become very frustrating, but I, thankfully, took it as quite beneficial. It really helped me to get a good handle on the assignment, and in the end helped majorly with my final. My final, I think, turned out well. I really like my final results.

Formative Exercises:

This was the first formative exercise. It was pretty challenging. The magazine clippings have to be cut a very specific way so that the edges have no visible white on them. That was the toughest part. Also, everything needed to line up perfectly straight to give it a smooth edge. This exercise came to be extremely helpful in the end. By the time I got to my final project, I felt 100% more confident in the way to cut the magazine clippings.

This exercise took up most of the time. It was very time consuming, yet VERY crucial. I had to find abnormal shapes in magazines and trace them using carbon paper. We had to make up bilateral balance, radial balance, asymmetrical balance, and imbalance. I found the asymmetrical balance to be the toughest one just because of the fact that it really took me a while to understand what it really was.
